On March 14th, 2020, right as news of the pandemic was breaking around the country, Sophie and Joe were at a house party in Syracuse. Sophie, who lived in Westchester, NY at the time, was her best friends plus one to a party over 240 miles away. Meanwhile, Joe was the plus one of one of his friends, and they almost didn't even go. Neither Joe nor Sophie knew anyone else present.
-
Though they noticed each other right away, there was no interaction until Joe heard Sophie banging on the table and yelling from across the house, "Whose turn is it?!" Joe spent the rest of the night following Sophie around the party, taken by her authenticity and forceful nature. Sophie was quickly swept up in Joe's bashful charms.
-
That following Monday, Sophie called Joe to tell him that, while it might be crazy, she'd like to keep seeing him despite the four hour distance. Joes response? "I'm so glad you called. I feel exactly the same way."
-
Six years later, this happy couple is inseparable. They treasure every moment together, whether those moments are spent at home cooking dinner and playing board games, on a road trip to see family, or in a hotel on a weekend get away.
-
At first glance, it would seem that Joe and Sophie are complete opposites. Joe is quiet, gentle, deliberate, and reserved. Sophie is fiery, assertive, boisterous, and passionate. Joe likes to read. Sophie prefers television. Joe loves the ocean. Sophie has thalassophobia.
-
And yet, these two soul mates have found kindred spirits in one another. While seemingly different, deep inside Sophie and Joe share the same values, tastes, ideologies, love of travel, longing for adventure, and so much more.
-
They enjoy each other's differences too, of course. Sophie has helped Joe come out of his shell and assert himself. Joe has taught Sophie to calm down and take a step back. They also constantly introduce each other to new hobbies, activities, media, and food. Neither would be the person they are today if not for the other.
-
While their life together is never boring, Sophie and Joe have found a comfort and a safety in each other neither has experienced before. It's not just acceptance, or even appreciation, it's celebration. Celebration of their differences and their similarities. Celebration of each other's uniqueness, not just in the big moments with grand gestures, but also in the quiet, every day moments, so thankful to have found each other.

And that is precisely what you've been invited to do: Celebrate with us! We sincerely hope you will honor us with your presence on our special day.
